For my mother's birthday we went back into Geneva to see the United Nations, but the main purpose was to have a drink at the Parc des Eaux-Vives. On our way from the UN to the parc, we stumbled upon La Perle du Lac and the Science museum and had the nicest afternoon reading books on the lawn. It was another beautiful day in Geneva and a completely different experience than all the other days spent in the city.

My mother and I drove up to Gex in France to get a view of Mont Blanc. The whole time we were driving up the mountain, we kept peering back to see if we could find Mont Blanc in the clouds...and we couldn't see it! Finally, at the top of Gex over french fries and coffee, we realized that one big, fluffy, white cloud in the very middle of the large bunch of clouds was Mont Blanc. Eureka!

For my birthday, my mom and I had lunch at Cafe Peney in Peissy. I can't even describe the food because it was out of this world amazing. I will say that I am planning to recreate the salad dressing we had...honey mustard with balsamic? I don't know what it is, but sauces and dressings and glazes are infinitely better in Europe. Then we stopped by Domaine Chateauvieux to see if it was open, as it closes for a period in the summer. It was not open, but it was still a beautiful setting. 

We were surrounded by vineyards, so we decided to stop in to the winery next door called Les Trois Etoiles. Jean Charles is the viticulturist and owner of the winery and was kind enough to put up with us for a few tastes of his white wines. Wine tasting in Europe is very different than wine tasting in the States.
