high-waisted skinny jeans

jeans: paige, blouse: plenty by tracy reese, shoes: gucci

I have been longing for a pair of high-waisted, skinny jeans for quite some time and finally purchased a pair. I love the high-waisted component of jeans mainly because I think jeans and a top can get a little boring. But if you add high-waisted jeans to the picture…POOF…the outfit immediately becomes non-boring, and in fact, interesting. Also, after looking at these pictures, I realize I need to hem my jeans.

easter sunday 2014

first dress: kate spade, second dress: h&m

We had a jam-packed Easter holiday, and even though we were exhausted at the end of it, it was time well spent with our families. Brad had committed to play at church, so I went to church with my parents, followed by brunch at Rise No 1. Rise is one of my favorite restaurant "experiences" in Dallas with a menu so decadent and flavorful and an ambiance that is so perfectly French. Their marshmallow soup is a staple, and in addition to the Rise Salad (fyi AMAZING dressing), we split the jambon and gruyere soufflé and the mac 'n cheese soufflé. We agreed that the jambon and gruyere was the best, but in all fairness, it will always be so. For dessert, the chocolate soufflé was a no brainer, and it.was.divine.

I joined Brad at his grandmother's house for Easter lunch, and after a few hours we moved on to his grandpa's house. Brad's mother had been mentioning how pretty the bluebonnets were at Grandpa's, and lo and behold, she was right. Bluebonnet patches were littered all throughout the backyard, and they were the most radiant shade of blueberry. I felt like a true Texan after our bluebonnets photo-op.

We finished our Easter holiday at my parent's house for Campisis and easter baskets and Pimms Cups. Thank you, Easter Bunny!

"Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?" The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

rio de janeiro post 1

After watching Rio2 last weekend, I was finally inspired to gather together my pictures from my trip to Rio and put them up. These are some pictures from my trip in March of 2013 to visit my friends, Kiki and Andy, in Rio. I had never been to Brazil before, and we had THE.BEST.TIME. In my opinion.

Some of the pictures above were taken at:
the beach at Ipanema
the beach at Copacabana
the local market
on a bike ride to Sugarloaf mountains (I think… :)
on a hike up the base of Sugarloaf mountains
one of Andy and Kiki's favorite restaurants where we ordered empanadas. everyone sits on the wall to drink their beers and eat their food. delicioso.

And I still have more pictures to post!

highwaters

sweater: anthropologie, jeans: chloe, shoes: banana republic, necklace: vintage

I love pairing a "high-water" jean or pant with ankle-strapped shoes. It might be one of my favorite things.

Oh, and I got these shoes for $11.97.
