nola stroll

dress: nanette lepore (old), sandals: zara

My husband and I took a mini-vacation back in September where we stopped through New Orleans on our way to Destin, FL. Brad's last venture to NOLA was in college, but I haven't been to NOLA since I was a little girl. I have vivid memories of my parents letting my buy a plastic turtle from the aquarium, and then dragging that poor, plastic turtle up and down the hotel lobby on a rainbow leash that I guess I carried around just in case? That was my animal obsession/dolls are real phase that lasted for quite too long in my now mid-twenties opinion.

Anyways, our time in New Orleans was sorely limited, so we tried to adventure around the French Quarter as much as possible. I wore this very old little Nanette Lepore dress that I would normally pair with dressier heels, but as we were walking long distances, I opted for more comfort than more style. And let me tell you that my hair has not been this frizzy since 8th grade, when it was really really really frizzy and straighteners had not yet been introduced into my world.

New Orleans truly was another world, with a magic of it's own. The charming homes, cobblestone streets, interesting (very) shops were all delightful sights for me, and I loved the experience of exploring it with Brad. Unfortunately I have this very bad, and very unfair, habit of comparing every walkable city to New York. Other cities lose every time, except for maybe Paris and London, so I tried to shake off my New York allegiance for the day we were in New Orleans. We had a truly wonderful mini trip to NOLA, and of course I have a few more pictures and recounts to include in other blog posts.
